Photographed among the mangroves near my home on the southeast coast of Australia, and reimagined with AI, this work explores the shifting boundary between nature and technology, highlighting the impact of human activity on fragile ecosystems. The suited figures are symbols of the systems built on power and consumption, a reminder of the forces that strip landscapes bare while appearing respectable, even necessary. This work points to what’s lost: habitats destroyed, ecosystems unravelled, species pushed to collapse. It exposes the gap between corporate polish and the environmental ruin it conceals. Barruntaremos

“Barruntaremos (Inklings)” by Asunción Molinos Gordo opens a window into a disappearing form of ecological intelligence. In Spanish, barruntar means to sense something before it happens. Through the eyes of shepherd Pedro Sanz Moreno, one of the last guardians of the ancestral weather-reading practice Cabañuelas, the film invites us to sense the landscape the way our ancestors once did through intuition, relationship, and attention to subtle signals in nature.
