Silk, Then Skin Francisco de Goya painted the same woman twice, in the same pose, on the same divan. This slow art encounter shows both: the Maja Vestida in her white dress, pink sash and short jacket, and the Maja Desnuda with nothing but the cushions behind her. In each, the arms fold behind the head and the gaze meets the viewer directly, without apology. Seen one after the other, the difference is smaller than expected, and stranger. These works can be seen at The Museo Nacional del Prado.
