The widest scene

Messengers ride to William, William hears it, and Guy brings Harold to him. Then comes the longest single scene in the whole tapestry, a cavalcade of horses that goes on and on, and every metre of it exists to move one prisoner from one man’s house to another man’s. Watch the two of them ride side by side near the end. Same horses, same road, and only one of them chose to be there. The film stops at the palace gate. Worth waiting for: William and Harold riding side by side on matching horses, one of them a guest and one of them not.
