Transformation by Fire

This film explores ‘transformation by fire’ as a process central to both Javanese bronze gong smithing, and the volcanic origins of the Indonesian islands. It was made in collaboration with Indonesian experimental duo Senyawa, and is a composite of 16mm found-footage collage, optical printing, direct animation, and footage shot by the author with a bolex.
