Requiem for a Forest

Requiem for a Forest is a Black and White 1-channel film with a sound installation, reflecting on the catastrophic bushfires of the South East Coast of Australia during the summer of 2019-20. In consultation with Indigenous Fire Keepers, Australian filmmaker Tim Georgeson captures the environmental impact of the unprecedented fires across the Yuin Nation. Through moving images and sound, the film conveys the deep sense of loss felt by First Nations people and their journey toward healing. The project draws attention to the silence of death and the devastation of nature, offering a poignant reminder of the wisdom that was ignored and the need for respect for fire as a vital element.
