Dawn Dawn is a collaborative exploratory art film project by Shonah Trescott and Osvaldo Budet that delves into a radical imaginary future set at the culmination of the fossil fuel era, where the last coal train embarks on its poignant journey. Drawing inspiration from J.M.W. Turner’s "Rain, Steam, and Speed." This film echos Turner’s fascination with nature’s transience and contemplates the potential of art to document long-term environmental change. Questioning the accepted colonial-settler narrative of the western canon of Australian landscape in art, Dawn aims to open a dialogue centred around the climate emergency and de-colonisation of the ‘landscape’. * Description of films Dawn link and written as short film scripts.
