Gustave Caillebotte: The Painters

Gustave Caillebotte was a French Impressionist painter. He finished The House Painters in 1877. This artwork is now owned by a private collector, it depicts a winter’s day in the quartier de l’Europe district of Paris. A group of painters is surveying the facade of a wine merchant’s store, they have turned their backs and are studiously ignoring the scene behind them.
