Jan Vermeer: The Astronomer

Johannes Vermeer was a Dutch painter. The Astronomer is an oil on canvas and is now in the Louvre Museum in Paris, France. The masterpiece shows a man touching the celestial globe. The astronomer’s profession is shown also by the book on the table, the Adriaan Metius’s Institutions Astronomicae Geographicae.
