That Distant Snow Through moments centered on a child’s school homework and her curiosity about dreams, this film takes viewers into the interconnected worlds of three generations of women, revealing the profound meanings embedded in “small” moments of everyday life. Created collaboratively by young people in the Himalayan region of Ladakh, who share deep cultural and emotional ties to Tibet, it reflects their concerns for the future and growing awareness of environmental challenges — from mining and water pollution to unethical land use. Blending poetry, song, and personal stories, the film becomes a heartfelt meditation on belonging, resilience, and the fragile relationship between people and nature, where both water and land emerge as living witnesses.
