Ephemeral Procession

In Triumphs and Laments – Work in Progress, William Kentridge unveils a monumental 550 m charcoal frieze along Rome’s Tiber embankment. Rendered through reverse-graffiti power-washing, the figures emerge in striking black-and-white, evoking layered triumphs and losses across time. As pollution slowly reclaims the stone, the artwork’s impermanence becomes its poetry—inviting viewers to meditate on history’s fragile ebb and flow. ikonoTV’s Slow Art treatment brings focus to the textures of tracings, the rhythm of stencils, and the tension between remembrance and erasure.
